NOm NOm NAMOO~!

At a little Korean cafe/bistro/desserts corner located at Publika:

Welcome to Namoo~ A home to a variety of Korean dishes and desserts and a heaven for food lovers!

The simple but peaceful ambiance of Namoo cafe~ Accompanied by Korean ballad and jazz songs playing softly in the background while you enjoy your food

Zee menu that is clipped with a clothes hanger~ The menus are hung on a clothes rack~

Namoo peach water! The peaces are placed on star-shaped ice cubes. Once the ice cube melts, the peaces disintegrate into tiny tiny pieces~

Bulgogi taco~ This was seriously amazing! The beef was very succulent and juicy! The veggies used were fresh too~

The dessert that took my breath away~ 'Matang' as it is called is a simple korean dessert: honey glazed sweet potatoes and pumpkin, chewy sweet rice cakes and nuts. Along with this dish came a small plate of marmalade to be dipped in.

Looks good right? Hehehehe~

The mini fence outside Namoo cafe~

I clearly had a NAmoo-rific time at Namoo cafe and bistro~ Amazing food, great ambience and a wonderful experience~!

My private adventure~ Series 1

Good day everyone!!!~
How has your weekend been so far? Mine was awesome-tastic! I recently visited one of the most colourful and art-driven mall in Malaysia- PUBLIKA~

Publika is located at the heart of Mont. Kiara and is a great place for food hunting! It has loads and loads of cafes and for those who are Korean food lovers, there is an amazing Korean bistro and dessert place called Namoo there~ Aside from good food, Publika is also home to a lot of Asian fashion hotspots that are filled with the latest trends from Tokyo and Seoul.

My journey at Publika began with a food hunt~ I ate jawa mee at a place called 'Mee Jawa' which is located outside Publika's main shopping are. This place has really good mee and their wantan is not that bad either~
Jawa mee at 'Mee Jawa'
This mall has amazing interior designs! It is filled with artwork and graphic art from various Malaysian artists. Even the toilets have such beautifully decorated walls and doors that I couldn't resist taking pictures of each and every toilet~
The benches at Publika. There were other bench designs completely different from this one.

This dress is completely made from lollipops! They had this design exhibition going on in the mall and many avant garde dresses were put on display.
I wonder what this is??? (0.0)

Local designers artwork pervaded the walls of the mall. This picture was taken outside the toilet near the carpark area. This particular designer chooses a very unique theme linked to Malaysian history and only chooses to use black, white and red to bring out the beauty in the masterpieces~
The unique playground monkey bars~ I just had to try them out, although I was clearly over the height limit hehehe~

If you are in search of a cool gateaway place, then Publika is definitely a great place for you~ It is a beautiful mall filled to the brim with amazing art pieces and it is very peaceful to walk around~ So please do drop by and be prepared to be awed~~~
Cheerio mes amis~ <3 Till we meet again!~

stop and LOOK! (U-kiss Stop Girl Comeback)

And they are back! With the release of their latest mini album STOP GIRL, U-kiss is ready to top music charts and grab the hearts of listeners and fans worldwide!

Stop Girl is one comeback that suits U-kiss well in terms of style. It's not too rappy, it's not too techno, it's not too boyish either~ In fact, this new style they portray in Stop Girl exudes maturity (a style rather lacking in many kpop groups nowadays). They introduced the song in two different music videos (one in black and white, and the other in colour). In my opinion, I like the B&W video way more than the coloured one~ It was mysterious like a spy movie and since most of the props and outfits used in the video were black and white, it is reasonable enough that a B&W video suited the comeback more~ A B&W video is also less distracting than most colourful kpop music videos of today~ If too much colour were to be used in a music video the viewers attention is not focused on the members but on the blinding colours instead.
Although AJ is not present in this return, the boys' voices really came out well in this song choice. The beginning of the song started off strong with Hoon's angel-like voice and to my surprise, black horse Kiseop followed up with his own part with an improved vocal~ Way to go Kiseop!!! :D Kevin's vocals fit really well with this song as well especially the parts where he takes over the chorus~

With AJ's absence, Dongho finally has more rapping scenes~ It is not easy to have a group with too many rappers... especially if it is a ballad-pop group like U-kiss. Groups that are made up of many rappers such as Block B and BAP tend to have that swagger style which does not fit U-kiss at all. So personally, I find that less rap is better for U-kiss although less rap means less of Eli, Dongho and AJ... :( (please don't hate me Eli, Dongho and AJ lovers).  Because of the little rap sections I feel that the presence of the rapping members less in Stop Girl's  song and performances, which is a sad thing really cause I know that all of them worked really really hard for this comeback... U-kiss must figure out a way to make all members 'shine' in both songs and performances to become a great Kpop group that outshines the gazillion others.

U-kiss' new mini album also comes with the English version of Stop Girl. It is sang fully in English and to my delight, the English is understandable and clear~ I like listening to the English version because being a non-Korean speaker, I can actually understand what the song is about without having to see the subbed lyrics. Thumbs up to U-kiss for creating the English-fied version of a really good song~

Overall, Stop Girl is a song that is worthy of the top positions in music charts. It is simple, and like sugar to the ears of listeners~ There is nothing distracting in the song in terms of melody, and I must say the harmonization of the members' voices can be heard really well in this single compared to past songs like Believe, Neverland, and Dora Dora. I would rate this single 4/5~

Into the fashion zone~

I just realized that I have not been blogging much about fashion... oh deary me~ well then, here is a fashion post out of the blue for you guys!~ Enjoy :)

Today is laid back korean style day~ HELLO~
The trend of Korean fashion nowadays:
1) Huge long tees (usually long-sleeved or short sleeved) with LARGE printed words or animal designs!
  2) Having fun with accessories (not necessarily matching with the outfit)

Spike hairbands add a bit of colour and fun to any style~ Some wear it with dresses too nowadays :)
Meet Mr Robot~ Gold accessories go well with black outfits~

3) Bags complete the outfit (Any colour, size and shape will do)
One of my fav bags is from the brand Yakpak which originates from the US. I bought mine from Singapore years ago in Orchard Road :)

Movie wonder- Taichi 0 (Zero)

HELLLOOOO everyone! Yes it has been a very long time indeed! This blog is so dusty that I can practically see dust bunnies hopping around... *cough cough* SO as a quick spring cleaning process for this blog, let's start off with a movie review of one of the most interesting Chinese movies of this season- Taichi 0 (zero)

I have been a fan of Chinese kung fu movies for as long as I can remember~ The epic movie series 'Wong Fei Hung' was the spark of it all! All the super cool moves, the action and the unique character creation were enough to drive this Chinese movie junkie nuts!!! A few years ago my mom introduced to another movie called 'Shaolin' featuring Andy Lau and Nicholas Tse (one of my all time favourite actors :D weee). This movie reignited that love for kung fu action in movies to a higher level (probably the highest!!) not because of the killer-rific action but because it had a great storyline to the movie as well. The movie I'm about to introduce in this review shares this attribute of 'Shaolin' but with a more comical side to the storylines.

Taichi Zero is not your average kung fu blockbuster~ It has a comic side, a game side (those that you can find in RPGs and fighting games like Street Fighter) and a romance side too~ The places in the movie were introduced using those 'on-screen' naming techniques which are used in maps for RPGs. The post office was labeled the 'post office' in the movie itself, not as a map, but when the post office came into the screen! All the places and characters were introduced the same unique way~

The fighting scenes were exactly like those in combat games! It included the character's life gauge and a KO statement in the end when the hero got beaten up~ Very clever technique really~ Who would have thought to incorporate the gaming experience into a kung fu movie!? That is what I call creative ingenuity!

In terms of storyline, this movie caught me at the very beginning itself! The war which was then followed by the historical introduction of the main character was so cleverly intertwined that I just has to remain in my seat (despite the rising urge to go to the loo~) It was thrilling, funny and sad at the same time! I applaud movie beginnings that give me a mix of emotions!

The undying determination of the main star Lu Chan (played by Yuan Xiaochao) in search for the Chen style kung fu master is truly praiseworthy~ Viewers may find Lu Chan's character rather bimbotic and annoying at first, but his naive personality is cute and endearing once the story progresses. Oh did I forget to mention that he has this special 'horn' on his right forehead??? This horn looks like a mini devil horn, which gives Lu Chan the special ability to learn kung fu or should I say mimic it, at very fast rates! You could say that this horn is a gift from Kung Fu Heaven~ it's a very rare gift and it is normally attained by individuals. Lu Chan's was on his forehead since birth, a sign that he is in for greater things in life~ (kung fu wise~)

The story's love parts were rather mixed up at first~ As usual the hero of the story does not attain that love at first sight moment with his soul mate to be, Yu Niang (palyed by Angelababy). In fact the actress has another love fancy at first, her fiancee since birth Fang Zijing. But as Fang transgresses to the 'evil' side, love between these two lovebirds ends rather abruptly... In fact this Fang Ziying guy has another love interest while he studied abroad; the British military representative Claire. Tsk tsk tsk~ shame on you Fang Ziying! :p

Taichi Zero's multiple character focus is quite confusing at first but viewers would get the hang of it as the story progresses further into the main plots. The characters of the movie comprises of the uncle labourer, mahjong lady fighter, the young feisty girl with pigtails, tofu warrior, uncles of many generations, cousins, brothers and more~ Each character has their own unique kung fu style and character in the movie~ It is enjoyable to watch both the main character as well as the side casts due to this colourful blend of village personalities~

Kung fu in Taichi Zero is not the HIT HIT KILL style of kung fu~ In fact kung fu is displayed in a rather smooth and peaceful kind of art that takes lots of practice, skill and patience! The fighting scenes in this movie was not too bloody either... in fact now that I recall it... it isn't boody at all... During the final battle scene ( I know this may lead to spoilers~), the kung fu experts of the Chen village used VEGETABLES to fight off their enemies whom were equipped with GUNS! Imagine that! VEGGIES vs GUNS! Now kids, please don't underestimate the veggies on your plate! They are hard hitting stuff that can break jaws and bones! Ouch indeed! This unique portrayal of a battle was entertaining and hilarious at the same time; making this movie hit a 5 star rating on my movies list in 2012.

I hope I have not provided you guys with too much spoilers~ I truly loved this movie as a whole and there is just so many things I would love to say about it! But I'm keeping a quarter of the things I wanted to tell to myself so that you can watch and enjoy this movie for yourselves to find out! So what are you waiting for~! Rampage those movie cinemas and watch Taichi 0!!!! A movie filled with comical and gaming entertainment for all~
